Taungurung Cultural Experiences at Tahbilk

Embracing Taungurung Culture at Tahbilk Estate

In proud partnership with wawa biik – Taungurung Cultural Experiences, Tahbilk invites guests to immerse themselves in the living cultural landscape of tabilk-tabilk, meaning “place of many waterholes” in the Taungurung language. These immersive experiences provide meaningful opportunities to connect with the stories, knowledge and Country of the Taungurung people.

Ultimate Tahbilk | Thursday 19 September

New this spring, Ultimate Tahbilk offers a deeper exploration into Taungurung Country and the stories held within the lands and waters of the Estate.

In proud collaboration with Tahbilk Estate, this 5-hour experience invites guests to walk alongside Taungurung guides as they share the living culture of their Ancestors. Beginning with a traditional Welcome and Smoking Ceremony, you’ll journey on foot through the biodiverse wetlands while learning about sustainable land care practices, seasonal plants, and cultural traditions passed down through generations.

Pause for morning tea and relaxed conversation with your guides before gliding quietly across the Tahbilk Wetlands on an informative eco-cruise. The experience continues with a long table lunch at the Tahbilk Estate Restaurant — seasonal, shared plates thoughtfully prepared by the Tahbilk kitchen.

The day concludes in the historic Cellar Door with a private tasting of Tahbilk wines — a fitting close to a journey shaped by culture, nature, and community.
