Tahbilk 1998 '1860 Vines' Shiraz
13.5% Alcohol | Enjoy Now and over the next 12 months to two years.
Tahbilk '1860 Vines' Shiraz is produced from the original ungrafted pre-Phylloxera vines planted on the Estate in 1860.
After careful hand picking, fermentation takes place in century old open oak vats followed by maturation in French oak for 18 months prior to bottling.
From one of the highest rating vintages for Estate Reds, this is a very special release indeed ...
Reviewed on release by Divine Magazine ... “Like most Australian wine regions, the 1998 vintage was excellent in the Nagambie Lakes area – as this wine proves. Wonderfully fleshy & together, with gorgeously fine, chewy, dark fruit flavours, glimpses of earth and leather & gingery spice add serious complexity. This is a terrifically fine wine.”
Mindfully cellared in the Estate's cellars and close to peak development, age has seen earthy, barnyard characters come into play with the palate remaining still remarkably fresh with bright red berry fruits still present.
Tahbilk 2023 Shiraz
14.0% Alcohol | Enjoy Now to 2033/2038
Faced with a challenging growing season, that included a 1 in 100-year flood event, the 2023 vintage delivered wines of great depth of flavour and character … releases we are justifiably proud to share.
Flavour and character are the keys that unlock the undeniable Estate character of this Shiraz. Smelling of pepper, earth and spices along with a hint of dusty/savouriness, the palate spans blackberry, plum and dark cherry fruits with fine tannins completing a most compelling release.
