Jo Nash Brings the Spirit of Tahbilk to the UK

Last week, Jo Nash, General Manager of Tahbilk Estate and a key leader within the Tahbilk Group, jetted into the UK to showcase Tahbilk wines. Based in the Nagambie Lakes region of central Victoria, Tahbilk is a fifth-generation family estate renowned for its Rhône-style whites, especially Marsanne, and elegant, expressive reds. During her visit, Jo poured wines at trade events with Highbury Vintners, hosted a special lunch with distributor Hallgarten Wines, and attended Rhône Roots 2025, a major London tasting celebrating Rhône varietals from around the world. It was a warm, engaging week of storytelling and wine sharing, with Jo offering UK buyers and sommeliers a rare, personal connection to our legacy and, of course, taste Tahbilk wines.

“Connecting with people over a glass of wine is what it’s all about,” Jo said during her visit. “Getting to share these wines and hear people’s reactions in real time – it’s incredibly rewarding.”

Though Jo has a background in winemaking, she is currently Tahbilk Estate's General Manager, playing a key role in the leadership of the Tahbilk Group. With over two decades of experience in the wine industry, Jo brings strategic insight, hands-on knowledge, and a deep connection to the region she calls home.

The UK tastings highlighted some exceptional wines, including the 2016 1927 Vines Marsanne, which drew praise for its complexity, age-worthiness, and texture. The 2017 and 2023 Marsanne also made strong impressions, showcasing different expressions of the variety, while the upcoming 2024 Viognier offered a fresh and floral preview of what’s to come. The red wines were equally well received, particularly the 2019 Old Vines Cabernet Shiraz and 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, both noted for their structure, balance and depth of flavour.

“The UK has always been an important market for us,” Jo explained. “There’s a deep appreciation here for heritage, for wines with personality and provenance. Being able to share our story and wines directly – that’s priceless.”

Jo’s visit also coincided with Rhône Roots, a celebration of Rhône varietals and producers, making it a fitting time to spotlight Tahbilk’s long-standing connection to these classic varieties. The estate is home to the world’s largest single planting of Marsanne, and its Viognier, Roussanne and Shiraz continue to thrive in the unique climate and ancient soils of the Nagambie Lakes region.

While other Australian wineries may focus on mainstream varieties, Tahbilk has leaned into its Rhône roots, crafting wines that offer freshness, character and a strong sense of place. The warm reception in the UK confirmed that these wines resonate just as strongly with international audiences.

From riverside vineyards in Victoria to tastings across London and beyond, Jo Nash’s visit was about more than just pouring wine – it was about sharing a story, a place, and a philosophy. It reinforced Tahbilk’s commitment to heritage, sustainability, and crafting wines that stand the test of time.

As Jo puts it:

“Meeting our customers in person brings the wine and its story to life.”

Thanks to this visit, more people in the UK now know – and love – the wines of Tahbilk.
