About this winei

With its origins in Spain where it is known as Garnacha or Garnacha Tinta ... although the French in the Rhone Valley would argue that it was theirs first ..., Grenache (its French moniker) was one of the first varieties to be introduced into Australia in the 18th century and eventually became the country's most widely planted red wine grape variety until it was surpassed by Shiraz in the mid-1960s.
It is generally spicy, berry-flavoured and soft on the palate and produces wine with a relatively high alcohol content and requires careful yield control for best results.
Tahbilk's history with Grenache dates back to initial 1.87 hectares planted in 2005 with an inaugural single varietal release occurring in 2007.
A number of follow up vintages ensued, before our Estate Grenche also found its place as a blending partner in our popular Grenache Mourvèdre Rose and Grenache Shiraz Mourvèdre blends.
