An independent, family owned winery established in 1968, McPherson Wines has steadily established itself as Australia’s least well known top twenty winery, happily enjoying their under the radar reputation as a quality, efficient and innovative winemaker for those in the know.
 
McPherson wines are made to be easy-drinking, fruit driven styles with generous mouth-filling flavours. For almost 40 years the McPherson family have been committed to producing high quality wines at an affordable price.
 

A very colourful character, Andrew McPherson has spent his working life making wine and has made an incredible contribution to the Australian Wine Industry. Andrew loves a good Red and a great Sunday lunch, combining the two with family and friends on most weekends.

"My Reserve Shiraz Cabernet has been made in the style of the legendary blend that made Australian wine famous all over the world. The Shiraz Cabernet has played a pivotal role in Australia's wine making history, and is my favourite wine.

This full bodied Shiraz Cabernet is a blend of 60% Shiraz and 40% Cabernet. This rich red wine has luscious berry and spice flavours complemented by fine structure and length. This wine is well known as the King of Australian Reds. Enjoy!"

The grapes for this Reserve Shiraz Cabernet were picked and crushed during the cool of night, thus ensuring the retention of varietal character, while modern winemaking techniques were employed throughout, all of which help to create the famous McPherson style. Fermentation took place in sweeping arm red fermenters, giving the wine a denser, richer colour and allowing for gentle flavour extraction. Careful attention was also paid to the oak selection for the Shiraz Cabernet. This wine was aged on French oak for nine months, giving the wine a smooth and elegant oak influence.

Enjoy Now to 2028/2030
Dark berry notes and a touch of spice on the nose. Hints of mocha/tobacco/leather, the palate is smooth yet fresh and clean with rounded tannins and blackberry/spice characters.
This blend is suited perfectly to hearty dishes. Beef medallions, barbequed meats or braised lamb shanks love this wine - anytime of the year.
