Marsanne - 2015 - WOTY

2015 'Museum Release' Marsanne

undefined  undefined

12.5% Alcohol | Screw Cap Closure | Drink Now to 2025+

Currently sitting deliciously on the youthful side of our ‘Museum Releases’, the bouquet has a vibrancy more attune to a younger wine than a mature one … hints of honey and a suggestion of dried tangerine peal an indication of further development to come.
A richly flavoured palate of citrus, lemon curd, honeysuckle and ginger hints is graced with a strong acid backbone delivering most of that flavour straight over the tongue and down the throat.
Further short term cellaring out to 2023/2025 will see the development of additional complexity and fuller flavours … longer term to 2029/2031 would not be a stretch.

"The honeysuckle aroma of this marsanne bursts out of the glass when swirled, perhaps a hint of jasmine or field flowers too. The palate lives up to the promise and then some: the variety is often sotto voce when young, but here it is exuberant, aided by chalky acidity."
James Halliday ~ www.winecompanion.com.au

“This pleasant, lively Marsanne is lighter straw in colour, with hints of old gold. Bright aromas of apple blossom, honeysuckle, lemon, red apple and white peach are edged by a note of dried herbs. The wine is dry, with fresh acidity that infuses the fruit on the palate with freshness and lingers on the stony finish. Very good.”
Tim Appelt ~ www.winediscovery.ca

We have been advised by our carriers that with increases in the volume of home delivery orders, coupled with staffing restrictions introduced by the Victorian government, that delivery times will be extended.

“So Marsanne is a type of grape – not a place in France – and the Tahbilk Marsanne is the original when it comes to cheap AF [Editor: Always Fruity??] white wines that you actually want to drink. Think hints of honeysuckle, jasmine and some field flowers according to the wine man himself, James Halliday.”

Andrew Graham – www.theurbanlist.com

“Five generations of the Purbrick family run this living monument in Victoria, with some of the oldest Marsanne vine plantings in the world.
Summery perfume of fresh tropical fruit, lemon zest and a hint of jasmine lead into crisp, lean refreshing flavours. Strikes the perfect balance with light fruit and acidity.
Serve with flash-fried squid and a squeeze of lemon. Rating: 9/10
Regan Drew ~ Grafton Daily Examiner

“One of Australia’s great unsung hero whites and on song again this year, showing herbal lifts with sweet floral notes, then right into a mouth-sparkling crunch of granny smith apple, stone fruits, lemon and lime zest, all in sync with a final little spicy lift.
Great now and buy a few to cellar and develop golden marmalade and honey notes when mature.”
Tony Love ~ Adelaide Advertiser
