“A kaleidoscope of orange blossom, bees wax, freshly lain tatami mat and apricot pith, unravelling along a beam of tart acidity and talcy mineral force. Time has imbued considerable complexity despite lower alcohols of recent years and less texture than befits many Marsannes.”

“In the glass the Tahbilk [2012 Marsanne] is an unusually deep yellow and honey colour with a depth that borders on opacity. Warm the wine in your hands for a few moments and some delightful floral characters enliven their scent as you give the glass a swirl, but once on the lips, nashi pears, cashew nuts and honey dew melon make their debut and waltz their way across the ballroom of your mouth.
There is a surprising viscosity on the palate that leaves an oily and butter-laden trail as the Marsanne crosses the back palate but leaves its honeysuckle calling card to entice you into taking another sip.”
Travis Schultz | Sunshine Coast Daily
“A remarkable Australian white wine, with Tahbilk having nearly more of the Rhone’s autochthonous Marsanne grape than the Rhone Valley itself.
Lively and buoyant when young, this white matures not unlike good Hunter Semillon does, with honeyed, toasty, floral notes emerging, as if the wine had been matured in oak – which it never is! Even with age, the acidity remains in the background. In perfect near-five-year-old condition, and wants a chicken and asparagus terrine, with some spicy chutney.”
Ben Canaider | The Spectator Australia
“A supple and long-term wine of elegance and freshness with a pleasing savoury aspect. Delicate and fragrant with a spicy, floral bouquet of white peach, pear and subtle creamy undertones. It’s long, fine and even. Its soft, nutty palate of restrained stone fruit, melon and apple finishes with length, freshness and a gentle acidity. Lovely now but it’s also a keeper as it will be able to be cellared for at least a decade.”
Jeremy Oliver | Australian Gourmet Traveller Wines
“Drink it now for its delicious refreshing lemon-balm juiciness or leave it a few years to develop a quite wonderful honeyed richness.”
Graeme Phillips | Hobart Mercury
