It’s not too often I get to review a new fortified release - we do not move through vintages as we do with our reds or whites, rather just as the need arises.
That need has arisen and we have a new 2002 vintage of LBVP – or Late Bottled Vintage P....

I can’t say the last word because the Portuguese winegrowers believe that the word is theirs and theirs alone to use, and we and other nations agreed to that as part of the General Agreement on Tariffs & Trade (GATT).

Late Bottled Vintage means that the fortified spends longer in the barrel than a "normal" vintage P... that would generally have only a few months.

This LBVP is produced from Estate Shiraz that is fortified with Brandy spirit before extended ageing in seasoned oak barrels prior to bottling.
It shows complex nutty, spicy aromas of dark berries & violets and a palate rich with harmonious flavours of chocolate, coffee & walnut finishing with a luscious lingering dried fruit sweetness.
